art contemporary against war

PROJECT

A territory of ethical dialogue

Art Stop War is an international cultural initiative conceived to create a shared artistic space dedicated to artists who originate from, or come from, countries marked by war, repressive regimes, or serious violations of human rights. The project is based in Venice, at Palazzo Zaguri, and in Milan, at ArTheoria, where exhibitions and cultural initiatives will soon commence. Its scope, however, is transnational: it defines itself as a symbolic territory of dialogue that transcends geographical boundaries and political affiliations.

Art Stop War was established to offer visibility and recognition to artistic voices working in contexts shaped by conflict, censorship, or restrictions on fundamental freedoms, reaffirming art as a space of ethical responsibility, critical awareness, and concrete commitment to peace.

Vision and commitment

In a time marked by conflicts and persistent violations of fundamental rights, Art Stop War affirms the value of the individual beyond any geographical, ideological, or political affiliation, recognizing in art a means of awareness, relationship, and responsibility. The initiative assumes a formal and public commitment to the promotion of peace, the safeguarding of human dignity, and the respect of civil rights.

Through artworks, images, texts, and contemporary visual languages, the project promotes:
• the protection of artistic expression as a space of freedom;
• the recognition of the complexity of individual identities;
• the enhancement of art as a form of knowledge, not of alignment.

The project fosters a coexistence of differences grounded in mutual respect and dialogue.

Structure

Art Stop War is an independent cultural platform, active both online and through exhibitions and in-person initiatives, and open to collaboration with universities, museums, foundations, and cultural institutions.

It develops as a living and continuously expanding archive, founded on the creative responsibility of artists and on a clear commitment: to affirm, through art, peace and respect for human dignity.
